Ambient Scribe & Microphone Troubleshooting

Fix microphone permission errors, listening failures, and transcription issues for the palmER mobile app and web platform.

Most issues are solved by checking microphone permissions. Here are quick fixes for the most common Ambient Scribing problems.

On a phone, use the app

For bedside scribing, the palmER mobile app is the most reliable option. It listens in the background, keeps your screen awake during a session, and keeps uploading even if your connection drops. Install it from Installation and Accounts.

Audio Quality Tips

Good audio quality leads to better transcription and documentation:

  • Place your phone close to the conversation, within 3 to 4 feet.
  • Speak clearly. The AI handles medical terminology well, but mumbling reduces accuracy.
  • Minimize background noise when possible. The transcription handles typical ED ambient noise, but quieter is better.
