Microphone Setup
Set up your microphone permissions for listening to patient encounters in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and on mobile devices.
Recording patient encounters requires one-time microphone access in your browser. Most users are prompted automatically the first time they tap the record button. Just tap "Allow" and you're set.
If your browser didn't prompt you, or if you previously denied access, follow the steps below for your browser.
iPhone / iPad (Safari)
Use Safari on iOS
For the best recording experience on iPhone and iPad, open palmER in Safari. Other browsers on iOS have limited microphone support and may interrupt recordings.
If you added palmER to your home screen, recordings may stop when your phone screen locks. For reliable recording, open palmER directly in Safari instead of the home screen shortcut.
Check iOS Settings
Open your iPhone Settings → scroll down to Safari → tap Microphone → set to Allow.
Allow when prompted
The first time you tap the record button, Safari will ask for microphone permission. Tap Allow.
If you previously denied access
In Safari, tap the page settings icon (left side of the address bar) → tap the ⋯ menu (bottom right) → scroll down to Website Settings → set Microphone to Allow.
Android (Chrome)
Check Chrome permissions
Open Chrome → tap the ⋯ menu → Settings → Site Settings → Microphone → make sure it's set to Ask or Allow.
Check Android system permissions
Open Settings → Apps → Chrome → Permissions → Microphone → set to Allow.
Allow when prompted
The first time you tap the record button, Chrome will ask for microphone permission. Tap Allow.
